Legal 500 directories

Leading licensing law firm, Poppleston Allen, reaffirmed its position at the head of the licensing scene as the latest announcement from the Legal 500 directories cemented their standing as the number one licensing law firm in England and Wales.

The directory, considered by many to be the benchmark when looking to engage with a legal firm, listed nine of the firm’s solicitors, with the next best licensing practice having just two. Similarly, four of the team were listed as “Leading Individuals”, with the next best firm having just two.

The publication of the Legal 500 brought good news for Partner at the firm, Lisa Sharkey, who is now listed by the directory under the coveted ‘Leading Individual’ status, where she joins Managing Partner, Jonathan Smith and London office based Partners, Clare Eames and Lisa Inzani.

Jonathan Smith, Poppleston Allen’s Managing Partner, commented: “We are obviously delighted with these results. It really is quite an achievement; one the whole team is very proud of. Perhaps the greatest achievement for us isn’t the individual mentions, but the fact the firm has nine solicitors recommended for licensing, far more than any other law firm in the England and Wales, underpinning the depth of talent and knowledge we’re fortunate to have at the firm.”

Jonathan added: “It was great to also get recognition for the firm’s fast-growing Betting and Gaming division, headed by Nick Arron, who was amongst those mentioned in the “recommended” section and has become leading figure in the industry over the past few years.”

There was also good news for the future of the firm as the newly appointed, Hannah Price, who is an Associate in Poppleston Allen’s Regulatory Department, was named as a ‘Next Generation Lawyer’, a section of the Legal 500 that looks at the health of law firms in terms of their talent bank for the future.
