On Tuesday 9th September, Poppleston Allen proudly sponsored and presented at the 2025 Best Bar None Awards, a night that brought the top Nottingham venues in the hospitality industry, including pubs, bars, restaurants and nightclubs together.

The 2025 awards recognised excellence across 12 categories; best club, hotel, independent bar or pub, leisure venue, live music venue, national bar or pub, restaurant, accessible venue, initiative, safe space contribution, newcomer and outstanding contribution award

The evening focused on celebrating the remarkable achievements of the National Award winning scheme. This year, 89 Nottingham venues earned their Best Bar None accreditation, making Nottingham’s Best Bar None scheme the largest in the UK.

Poppleston Allen had the honour of presenting three awards. Legal executive, Nick Landells, associate solicitor and gambling expert, Imogen Moss, and practice manager and partner (non-solicitor) Tracey Robottom took to the stage to recognise the night’s top venues.

  • The Best Bar None Club – Rock City – presented by Nick Landells, legal executive.
  • The Best Bar None Independent Bar or Pub – Saltbox – presented by Imogen Moss, associate solicitor and gambling expert.

All 12 awards were designed and crafted by Future Markers, using recycled plastic collected from Nottingham’s City Centre. The company aims to empower partners to lead in sustainability, by turning plastic waste into valuable, artistic assets.

About Best Bar None

Best Bar None is a national initiative supported by numerous trade bodies and business including the Home Office, UK Hospitality, British Beer and Pub Association, Mitchells and Butlers and Wetherspoon. The Nottingham initiative, which has been running since 2014, is the largest in the country and now includes over 100 accredited venues and brings major benefits to licensed venues by identifying them as safer and more welcoming places to socialise.

The initiative assesses each venue against their measures to comply with the four licensing objectives: prevention of crime and disorder, improve public safety, protection of children from harm and the prevention of public nuisance. Additionally, venues are also measured on their ability to protect women and girls from harm and reduce vulnerability as part of the Safe Space Pledge.
