What licences are needed for a takeaway?
Premises Licence for Takeaways
Needed if the takeaway wants to provide late night refreshment, meaning hot food or hot non-alcoholic drinks between 11pm and 5am. Poppleston Allen’s own guide says a premises licence can cover late night refreshment as well as alcohol and entertainment.
Late Night Refreshment Licence
If you plan to operate your takeaway after 11pm, then you will need a late night refreshment licence. Any hot food and hot non-alcoholic drinks servec after 23:00 and before 05:00 are licensable activities, whether consumed on or off the premises.
Change your Current Premises Licence
If your takeaway already has a premises licence but wants to add late-night hot food, extend hours or change the licensed area, then you will need to change your premises licences.
Alcohol Licensing
If you plan on selling any types of alcohol, including alcohol deliveries, then you will need alcohol licence.
