News Update on the Government proposal for the relaxation of licensing hours for the Royal Wedding.

Consultation response has now been published.

“The Government response to the consultation regarding the relaxation of licensing hours for the Royal Wedding was published yesterday.

The Government is going to proceed with a licensing hours order to allow licensed premises in England and Wales additional trading hours for the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises and the provision of late night refreshment, where premises are already licensed to provide these activities. The extra hours that will be permitted are:

  • 11pm on Friday 18th May 2018 until 1am on Saturday 19th May 2018; and
  • 11pm on Saturday 19th May 2018 until 1am on Sunday 20th May 2018.

The extension of hours will not apply to off sales of alcohol, or any form of regulated entertainment.

Full details of the Government response to the consultation can be found here.

The licensing hours order has not yet been made; we will update you once we have more details.
