Removal of existing requirement to make annual contributions to research, prevention and treatment

Update to take effect from 31 March 2025

On 4 February 2025 the Gambling Commission announced changes to the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice and Remote Gambling and Software Technical Standards.

One of the announced changes related to the removal of the requirement for licensees to make annual financial contributions to a list of research, prevention and treatment organisations, this can currently be read at paragraph 2 of Social Responsibility (SR) code 3.1.1.

Today the Gambling Commission have announced that from 31 March 2025 SR code 3.1.1 will be removed and no longer be in force.

The 2024/2025 levy period will be based on gross gambling yield data submitted via regulatory returns from June 2024 to March 2025 (pro rata’d up for a full year). The Commission will issue invoices on 1 September 2025 for payment on or before 1 October 2025.
