Specialist licensing law firm Poppleston Allen announces sponsorship of the 2024 Nottingham Best Bar None Awards.

Best Bar None is a national initiative supported by numerous trade bodies and business including the Home Office, UK Hospitality, British Beer and Pub Association, Mitchells and Butlers and Wetherspoon. The Nottingham initiative, which has been running since 2014, is the largest in the country and now includes over 100 accredited venues and brings major benefits to licensed venues by identifying them as safer and more welcoming places to socialise.

The initiative assesses each venue against their measures to comply with the four licensing objectives: prevention of crime and disorder, improve public safety, protection of children from harm and the prevention of public nuisance. Additionally, venues are also measured on their ability to protect women and girls from harm and reduce vulnerability as part of the Safe Space Pledge.

This sponsorship highlights the firm’s commitment to supporting local businesses and promoting best practices in licensing and compliance.

Commenting on the partnership, Poppleston Allen partner and head of marketing, Carl Weston says: “We are very proud to be sponsor the 2024 Best Bar None. This is a great fit for us as not only does it enable us to continue to build on our brand position within the sector but it will also reinforce our commitment to the local businesses in Nottingham.”

The 2023 awards saw a total of 103 venues across nine categories including; best club, best restaurant, best hotel, best live music venue, best large pub, best small pub, best large bar, best small bar, and best entertainment venue.

Growing connections through sponsorship play a key role in Poppleston Allen’s marketing program, as the Best Bar None deal is in addition to working with the Institute of Licensing’s National Training Week, the Night Time Industries Association and UKHospitality.
