Licensing Solicitor takes on 220km cycle and raises over £1000 for Licensed Trade Charities

Through Pedalling for Pubs Felix Faulkner raises funds for the Licensed Trade Charity and Only a Pavement Away

And He’s Off…

Today, licensing solicitor Felix Faulkner sets off on a challenging three-day, 220km charity bike ride through the Lake District, joining 60 fellow riders from across the hospitality industry. The event, organised by Pedalling to Pubs, is raising vital funds for the Licensed Trade Charity and Only a Pavement Away, which provides essential support to current and former workers in the licensed trade, offering everything from emotional guidance to financial and housing assistance.

Only a Pavement Away is a charity that helps people facing or experiencing homelessness to find jobs within the hospitality, pub and restaurant industries. They believe that everyone deserves a chance to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. They offer training and support to help people find jobs, and they also provide housing and other support services. Only A Pavement Away has helped hundreds of people who are homeless find jobs and rebuild their lives. The charity is a valuable resource for people who are homeless and for the hospitality industry.

The demanding route takes riders from Penrith to Cockermouth, then on to Carlisle, before looping back to Penrith, featuring a punishing 2,554-metre elevation gain along the way.

Felix, who specialises in licensing law, is taking on the ride while still recovering from recent knee surgery, making his commitment all the more impressive.

Commenting ahead of the ride, Felix said:

“Taking part in this charity bike ride means a great deal to me. It’s a way to give back to an industry that has supported so many people, and one I’m proud to be a part of. Both charities do incredible work helping those in need, and I’m honoured to play a small role in supporting their efforts. On a personal level, this ride also marks a milestone in my recovery from knee surgery, so I’ll be hoping it holds up over the 220km!”
