Licensing advice to open a 600 capacity live music venue in London

Helping this growing operator open its second live music venue despite representations

London has seen a spate of closures of clubs and other late-night venues in recent times, particularly those offering live music. This has prompted alarm about the city’s future as a 24-hour city.

To help protect London’s music scene, one of our clients is championing live music in London; and Partner Lisa Inzani worked with him to launch a live music venue in 2016.

Then in 2021, Lisa again advised the client on another late night venue which included obtaining a new premises licence for his new London venue.

Lisa’s initial application, that requested opening until a 2am Monday to Thursday and 3am Friday to Sunday, received representations (objections) from the local police who wanted strict conditions putting on to the licence. However, Lisa consulted with the police over the venue and these representations were removed.

The venue opened early 2021 with live shows from major UK music acts.
