Helen joined Poppleston Allen in 2007 and qualified as a solicitor in 2016.
Helen graduated from the University of Nottingham with an undergraduate degree in English and a masters by research degree in Linguistics. Helen went on to obtain a law degree (LLB) from the University of Law in London and a distinction in the Legal Practice Certificate at the University of Law in 2014.
Helen is based in the London office and advises clients on all aspects of licensing law including complex applications in cumulative impact areas, reviews and appeals.
Helen advises both independent and national operators and has particular understanding of the London boroughs. She works with a variety of operators including restaurants, pubs and bars, entertainment venues, late night music venues and sexual entertainment venues. Helen has obtained new premises licences and material variations to existing licences in difficult licensing locations and is able to advise on the best strategy to achieve her clients' goals.
Helen works closely in partnership with various stakeholders, including engaging with neighbours and community groups, responsible authorities, professionals and experts. She can navigate and explain the licensing process in clear terms and has had great success in bringing together all the parties involved in the licensing process
Helen advocates for her clients before Licensing Sub Committees and represents their interests in meetings with the responsible authorities and police.
