Poppleston Allen, the UK’s leading licensing law firm specialising in alcohol and gambling licensing, has been confirmed as the official awards sponsor for Best Bar None 2025.

Organised by It’s in Nottingham – the city’s Business Improvement District – this annual event champions outstanding performance across Nottingham’s evening and night-time hospitality sector

Best Bar None is a nationally recognised accreditation scheme, backed by the Home Office and the UK drinks industry, aimed at raising standards in licensed venues. The initiative promotes best practices in areas such as customer safety, responsible alcohol management, and venue operations. By rewarding excellence, it helps create a safer, more welcoming environment for both visitors and the wider community.

The Best Bar None 2025 Awards will take place on 9 September 2025 at Saltbox, on Bolero Square, recognising top-performing venues in several categories including hotels, bars, pubs, clubs, and late-night venues.

The 2024 awards brought over 50 of the top Nottingham venues in the hospitality industry, including pubs, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

As part of their sponsorship, Poppleston Allen is supporting the production of the bespoke awards. Designed and handcrafted locally by Future Makers UK, the awards will be presented to winners on the night – celebrating Nottingham’s hospitality excellence.

James Anderson, Partner at Poppleston Allen, commented: “We are very pleased to support and sponsor this excellent scheme and promote our home city as a diverse, vibrant and safe day or night out.”

Alex Flint, CEO of It’s in Nottingham, said: “We’re proud to once again have Poppleston Allen as our sponsor for the Best Bar None Awards. Their expertise in licensing and their continued support demonstrate a genuine commitment to Nottingham’s hospitality industry. With the addition of locally made awards from Future Makers UK, this year’s event will be a true celebration of community, creativity, and excellence.”

The partnership reinforces a shared mission: to make Nottingham a leading example of how cities can support a safe, successful, and sustainable night-time economy.

Growing connections through sponsorship play a key role in Poppleston Allen’s marketing program, as the Best Bar None deal is in addition to working with the Institute of Licensing’s National Training Week, the Night Time Industries Association and UKHospitality.
