Licensing and gambling law specialists Poppleston Allen has announced the hire of associate solicitor Joe Harvey along with the partner promotions of Tracey Robottom and Carl Weston, the firms first non-lawyer partners.
Joe joins the firm from Elliot Mather LLP where he spent over 14 years as a senior associate solicitor and higher courts advocate. A highly accomplished solicitor, Joe has experience in advising in relation to serious crime, dealing with all matters from interviews under caution and representing clients in hearings.
Tracey Robottom, the longest service member of Poppleston Allen having been with the firm for over 28 years, is promoted to partner from the position of practice manager.
And Carl Weston is promoted to partner from his role as head of marketing and business development. With over 25 years’ experience in marketing within business-to-business and professional services.
Lisa Sharkey, Poppleston Allen’s managing partner, comments: “We are delighted that Joe has joined us as an associate solicitor. His extensive background in criminal law and familiarity with interviews under caution, prosecution, defence work and hearings make him an ideal solicitor for contentious licensing work, an area where we are seeing increased levels of work.”
“I am delighted to welcome both Tracey and Carl to the partnership. It is a testament to Tracey’s abilities and commitment. She is involved in so many aspects of the firm that it feels like she is the glue that holds it all together. Carl joined us in 2015 quickly establishing himself and spearheading major developments in technology, business development, brand identity and client care services.
“All three will play important roles in the firm as we continue to grow.”
With offices in Nottingham and London, Poppleston Allen is the largest firm of licensing solicitors in the UK.
The team currently comprises 23 lawyers and paralegals and advises on over 8000 licences per year. Clients include: Mitchells and Butlers, Stonegate Pub Company, wagamama, REKOM, PizzaExpress, Pho, Domino’s Pizza, Buzz Bingo, Blueprint Gaming, Bandai Namco and Gauselmann Group, one of Europe’s largest gambling businesses.
