Government extends hours for the Mexico v England game at 01:00 on Monday 6th July

This will apply to on-sales of alcohol and late night refreshment

The Government has responded positively to concerns from the trade and the general enthusiasm for the World Cup by confirming that a further Order laid today will extend the hours starting on Sunday 5th July until 05:00 on Monday 6th July.

As before, this will apply to on-sales of alcohol and late night refreshment, but the Government has also addressed the concerns expressed by the trade in relation to the traditional Sunday finish time for many pubs of 22:30 and so this will apply from 22:00 on Sunday 5th July.

The other good news, and which is also part of the Order, is that on Sunday 19th July, which is the final (if England get that far!) the existing extension will also run from 22:00 to deal with the potential Sunday hours issue.
