Big Mamma Opens Italian Trattoria in London, Shoreditch

Paris-based restaurant group Big Mamma opens its first London venture called Gloria in Shoreditch

Big Mamma, the Paris based Italian trattoria has opened its first UK site in London, Shoreditch creating 85 jobs. They operate six trattorias in Paris and one in Lille, it has now launched 172 cover Gloria in Great Eastern Street at a site previously occupied by Red’s True Barbecue.

The venue offers a main dining room inspired by the Isle of Capri, mirrored ceilings and marble from Carrara. A “secret 1980s inspired dining room” downstairs that offers cocktails until 2am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and late-night pizza.

The menu offers Italian classics made from products imported directly from 180 producers in Italy.  Everything is made in house (including their Limoncello) and their ten-level lasagna. Their exceptional wine room offers 50 bottles from the best winemakers in the Piedmont region.

A spokeswoman said: “One of our wildest dreams at Big Mamma has come true. Since the beginning we’ve always wanted to open in London, the most exciting city with the craziest vibe.”
