News UK Music Licensing Company PPL PRS announce new measures due to Covid-19

PPL / PRS Suspend Payments for Closure Period

PPL PRS, the music licensing company have announced measures they are introducing to support businesses during Covid-19.

The measures include:

  • Not charging customers for their music usage during the period that they are closed (temporarily or permanently) due to Covid-19;
  • Changes to payment policies to introduce more flexibility, including deferred payments for customers during this difficult period; and
  • Temporary suspension of late payment surcharges.

If your licence review is due now, or soon, then PPL PRS have advised that they have suspended all reviews until at least 30 April 2020 and will review this in line with Government advice. However, if you want to proceed with your review then you should contact them directly.

If your business is temporarily closed due to the Covid-19 outbreak you will not be charged for the period that you are closed. If you have already paid for this period then they will look at the possibility of credit or refund.

If your business is permanently closed they are offering a pro-rata refund of the licence fee.
