Q: I came out of the industry in 2010 but I cannot find my personal licence now that I wish to return. Can I apply for a new licence to the Council where I now live, and do I need to at all if personal licences are going to be abolished?
A: Firstly, personal licences are not going to be abolished – what is going to be abolished is the need to renew personal licences that would have expired after 10 years, and this should come into effect sometime in 2015. Secondly, you cannot apply for a second licence – you must apply to the Licensing Authority from whom you obtained your original licence for a duplicate, which will cost £10.50. You must also inform them of any change of address.
