Do bear in mind this year that both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve fall on a Wednesday night.
It is not uncommon to find that the hours permitted for the sale of alcohol on a Wednesday are shorter than those on a Friday and Saturday, and it would be prudent to check your licences now so that you are in plenty of time to issue an application for a Temporary Event Notice, if you wish to extend those hours.
Prepare now and don’t leave a Temporary Event Notice to the last moment. At least 10 working days’ notice is required for a Standard Temporary Event Notice, although a Late Temporary Event Notice can be issued on 5 working days’ notice, but Environmental Health Officers and Police then have a right of veto over the issue of those notices.
