“The Gambling Commission have today published their 5th edition Guidance to Licensing Authorities issued under s.25 of the Gambling Act 2005.

The Guidance is available on the Gambling Commission website at www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk

The Commission describe the latest version seeks to reinforce the importance of partnership working between licensing authorities and local businesses to mitigate risks to the licensing objectives, and reflects improved understanding of the powers afforded to licensing authorities under the Gambling Act 2005.

It includes guidance on local risk assessments of premises, which are a requirement of the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice and come into force in April 2016.

We will follow this eNews with a more detailed review of the 5th edition Guidance but one immediate comment is that the Commission have decided against including an appendices of sample premises licence conditions. This proposal had attracted criticism from the industry. More to follow”.
