“The DCMS has published its response to a consultation that took place towards the end of 2018 and early 2019, regarding the annual publication of entertainment statistics.
Every year the DCMS publishes statistics on entertainment including, for example, how may premises licences permit regulated entertainment. However, with the changing landscape of entertainment, the consultation indicates that these statistics have lost some relevance. In particular, the Live Music Act 2012 deregulated live and recorded music to some degree and many premises now benefit from this without having specific permission. There are no notification requirements if you are using the Live Music Act 2012 and therefore, this information would not necessarily be recorded anywhere.
Given the difficulty therefore, in producing these statistics, the DCMS has decided to cease publication.”
