News Maximum Gaming Machine Stake and Prize Limits to be Reviewed

DCMS announces call for evidence

Tracey Crouch, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, has today announced a call for evidence on the review of gaming machines and social responsibility requirements across the gambling industry.

The Government intends to review:

  • The maximum stake and prize limits for gaming machines across all premises licensed under the Gambling Act 2005;
  • The number and location of permitted gaming machines across all licensed premises; and
  • Social Responsibility measures implemented to protect players from gambling-related harm, which includes ‘whether there is evidence on the impacts of gambling advertising and whether the right rules are in place to protect children and vulnerable people’.

The Call for Evidence will close on the 4th December 2016 and interested parties can submit their responses to callforevidence@culture.gov.uk

The Under-Secretary stated that “In launching this review I want to ensure that legislation strikes the right balance between allowing the industry to grow and contribute to the economy whilst ensuring consumers and communities are protected”
