Liverpool City Council Late Night Levy Adopted

Liverpool Late Night Levy to be in force by 1st April 2017

Full minutes from Liverpool City Council’s meeting on the 9th November 2016 have confirmed details of the Late Night Levy to be adopted. The Levy will apply to premises that are authorised to sell alcohol at any time between Midnight and 06:00. Exemptions are for premises which are only permitted to sell alcohol on New Year’s Eve within the Levy supply period and members of the BID (Business Improvement District). There will be no other exemptions or reductions for the Levy.

It has been decided that 70% of the net amount of the levy payments will be paid to the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner with the remaining fund to be used by the City Council.

In order for premises to avoid the requirement to pay the Late Night Levy free minor variations to amend the hours of the Premises Licence will be accepted by the Licensing Authority until the 31st January 2017. The Levy will come into force on the 1st April 2017.

We will keep you updated of any further developments.
