Chelmsford City Council to Implement Late Night Levy

Chelmsford City Council on the 16th July 2014 had a full Council meeting and ratified the decision to introduce the Late Night Levy

Chelmsford City Council had a full Council meeting on 16 July 2014 and have ratified the decision to implement the Late Night Levy.

This will be introduced on the 1 November 2014 and will apply to licensed premises which sell alcohol between 01:00hrs to 06:00hrs.

Exemptions to the levy will be premises with overnight accommodation, theatres, cinemas and premises which only sell alcohol after midnight on New Year’s Eve. No reductions will be available.

The levy is expected to raise between £30,000 to £50,000 per year, with 70% of the net levy revenue being paid to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex, who has agreed to return the entire amount to fund community safety initiatives, overseen by the One Chelmsford Board.
