We occasionally pat ourselves on the back! This is one of those times. At the BII NITA Awards at the Globe Theatre yesterday we won the Social Responsibilities Award where consumption is on the premises. The award was won by Poppleston Allen Training which provides training for licensees, police officers and council staff all over the country. David Elphick heads up this part of our organisation. He was absolutely delighted that we had won.

John McNamara, Chief Executive of the BII, said, "Poppleston Allen's programme was developed by Poppleston Allen with Mansfield Police and the Mansfield Association of Licensed Venues in response to problems surrounding underage sales and alcohol-related crime in the town centre. In the year that the programme has been available, it has seen tangible results in a reduction in these problems occurring. It is an excellent example of cooperation between the police, the industry and a training provider to address these issues."

The programme was initially developed in the Mansfield area. Since then, we have run a number of other courses and will be more than happy to provide details to anyone responding to this eNews.
