Our Solicitors
Piers Warne - Solicitor
Piers Warne joined the business in December 2007 to work on the growing client base in the London office.Originally from Gloucestershire, Piers trained at William Sturges and Co in Westminster and has been a solicitor for seven years, specialising in licensing since 2004. Piers joined us from Joelson Wilson where he worked with Regent Inns, Grosvenor Casinos and Glendola Leisure.
Piers has many contacts throughout licensing authorities and has appeared on behalf of his clients at licensing hearings nationwide. He has also advised clients on all aspects of due diligence, including risk assessments and operating schedules.
Piers has worked on a number of major cases, including the successful appeal against Bournemouth council who refused a premises licence during transition, a judicial review to the Administrative Court, a premises licence review in Blackpool and the successful application for late hours for the sale of alcohol at a casino in the Westminster West End stress area.
Piers can be found during the summer months squelching around in the music festival mud advising on licensing for these increasingly popular outdoor events. For example, at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2007, Piers worked closely with the operators, police and council officials to resolve licensing and operating issues prior to the festival. This year at the Zoo8 festival in Kent, not only will he be found behind the organisers desk co-ordinating licensing all weekend, he has managed to secure an after hours gig behind a mixing desk!
