News: Proposed Planning Application Fee Increases

Central Government is proposing to increase fees for planning applications with effect from 6 April 2008. The principal increases are as follows:

  • An increase of 11% in fees for householder applications - up to £150
  • An increase of 25% in fees for all other applications, including change of use - up to £330
  • The maximum cap for major planning applications will be increased from £50,000 to £250,000 (up to £125,000 for outline applications)
  • An introduction of a planning fee for discharge of conditions - £85

The fee increases will have an impact on all planning applications relating to change of use, new build, external alterations and variation of conditions.
