British Summertime is coming, the longer days and shorter nights of summer start officially on Sunday 25 March 2012 at 01:00. Clocks go forward by one hour onto 'British Summer Time' when 1am immediately becomes 2am. Those premises open will lose an hours trading.
Premises who currently trade after 01:00 on Saturday evenings and have a condition on their Premises Licence which may read 'the benefit of an extra hour on the day when British summer time commences' do not have to worry as they are covered for this yearly event.
Premises who do not have the benefit of the condition and wish to trade to their normal time will have to consider issuing a TENS to cover the extra hour. There is however, just enough time to issue a Variation Application to the Premises Licence to add the condition. If this is something you have wanted to do but have not yet got round to it, this is the time to issue the application and perhaps take advantage by looking at conditions which are now redundant and have them removed at the same time.
Ensure your patrons are also aware if they are booking taxis as confusion can be created with operators appearing an hour earlier to take them home!
Roll on Summer.
