News: Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill
- Date: 20/05/2011

The Police and Social Responsibility Bill is being considered by the House of Lords in Committee. A second full debate in Committee was held on 18 May in respect of amendments that had been suggested by the Noble Lords.
The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill is split into two parts. Part one being the Police Reform and part two being changes to the Licensing Act 2003.
Currently the House of Lords have debated and resolved up to amendment 25. Part two licensing amendments start with amendment 237. There have been two full debates in Committee in respect of the first 25 amendments and I can only assume that the intervening 212 amendments between where they are now and the start of the amendments to the Licensing Act is going to take a considerable amount of the Noble Lords time over the coming weeks.
This together with the growing list of amendments in respect of part two Licensing probably mean that the passage of the Bill back to the House of Commons is going to be tight before the summer recess in July.
We intend to keep you informed with respect to the passage of the Bill and any changes to the proposed section relating to licensing as it happens.
